Welcome back to the kitchen table. A pacifier may seem like just a small comfort item, but it actually holds a beautiful lesson about the gospel. When our little ones reach for it, they’re showing a need for comfort, much like our own need for God’s presence in times when we need comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us that God is the "Father of all comfort" who is present in our afflictions, offering us peace when we feel alone or overwhelmed.
As we respond to our child’s need for comfort—offering a hug, a gentle word, or a pacifier—we’re reflecting God’s love to them. They begin to see that, just as they can rely on us, we can all rely on God in our struggles.
Each time we bring them comfort, we’re not only meeting a physical need; we’re providing a glimpse of God’s nature, teaching them to trust and extend that same compassion to others. In those small moments, they’re experiencing the gospel firsthand.
